Victoria’s emissions from energy decreased 1.1% or 24,000 tonnes this week. The drop was largely due to 10.6% or 33,000 tonnes less emissions from natural gas use. Emissions from petroleum products rose slightly to 524,000 tonnes, the highest level since mid-June. Coal-fired electricity emissions were up 0.6% or 7000 tonnes. This week 95.6% of all electricity generated in Victoria was coal-fired, 0.9% gas and 3.5% hydro. This week’s Indicator is 32.5% above the 1990 weekly average for energy.
